What is meditation?

Meditation is the practice of internalizing yourself and your thoughts in order to focus and calm your mind. Anyone can meditate and in this post, you will learn how you can get into the practice of meditating, a skill that you will need in today’s world Tere are many ways to meditate this one is one of the simple ones where you focus on your breathing.

Step 1-Prepare your Environment

Preparing the environment in which you will be meditating is a crucial step. It should be a clean decluttered space with good lighting and ventilation. Anything that makes you feel calm and mindful should be kept in this place and anything that you associate with the outside world(school, work, etc..)should not be kept here. This place could be anywhere. You could even make a specific room, but importantly, this space should be the same every time you meditate as te energy you create while meditating is present there. Plants are recommended, you could even go outside!

Step 2-Prepare yourself

Once you’ve set up your environment (no noise, peaceful surroundings, good ventilation), you need to prepare yourself for meditation. Since most of us have very busy lives and usually don’t have much time to spare, it is essential that you don’t just jump into meditating right from your tight schedule as you won’t have the proper mindset to be receiving full benefit out of the meditation. So you must first be able to sit in a comfortable position with your head spine and neck straight in a single line. You should not be too hungry or too full. Set up a time for how long you can spare to meditate in terms of minutes Ex – 10min, 15 min 20 min, etc. Until that time You shouldn’t have any disturbances

Step 3-Start meditating

Gently close your eyes. Be comfortable in your posture and adjust your body to sit still for a few minutes without moving. Slowly take your attention inward. The first step is to listen to the outside sound.

Accept those sounds. When you accept those sounds they will not bother you.

Slowly take your mind towards your breathing. Just simply observe you’re natural breathing. Continue to do this for about 5 min.

Observe the temperature of your incoming and outgoing breathing. If there is any thought in your mind which is disturbing you, slowly start counting backward from 15. Thoughts will come and go. do not pay any attention to your thoughts. When counting say ‘inhale 15′, ‘exhale 15‘, ‘inhale 14’, ‘exhale 14’, ,inhale 13, and ,exhale 13 and continue until 0.

Step 4-closing the meditation

Once you ave followed the above instructions for your desired time and want to come out of meditation, follow the following steps:

1.Sit quietly for a few seconds

2.Take your awareness back to your surroundings and observe the sounds around you.

3.Take your awareness to your body -wiggle your toes and fingers

4.Observe the changes in your body

5.Rub your palms together, generate the heat and cup it arond your eyes

6.Open your eyes and look at your hands and take the energy from them

congratulations! you have successfully completed your meditation.
